Ode to chocolate

‘you’re sugar on my lips,

but a life time on the hips’

I don’t mind,

your taste is divine,

melting as we speak,

undressed from plastic,

unstuck from packages,

gorgeous hot or cold,

flavoured,

mint, strawberry, milky, orange,

I love them all,

100% coco, dairy free,

give me chocolate,

Boxed, or as a single choc,

Chocolate heals my dreary evenings,

sat in front of Coronation Street,

after tucking the children in.

The best chocolate,

is hidden,

from the husband.

I won’t pretend,

I can go a little bit gollum,

around chocolate.
